Established in 1887, in the days of steam and horses, Millers Oils has
been designing and producing lubricants to meet the ever increasing demands
of transport and industry ever since.
It doesn't matter if your vehicle is one of the first horse- less carriages,
a Vintage, Post Vintage or Post War Classic or one which competes in our
modern British Touring Championship or Classic racing or rallying events,
Millers Oils have the best possible lubricants for your vehicle.
Millers Oils have used their years of formulation and manufacturing experience
to produce only the highest quality lubricants for your cherished and valuable
vehicle.
This leaflet is designed to help you understand the wide range of lubricants
Millers Oils produce for the Veteran, Vintage and Classic enthusiasts, a
range which combines the very best of modern technology with the requirements
of yesteryear.
ANIMAL,VEGETABLE and MINERAL .... VETERAN, VINTAGE and CLASSIC
Millers Oils Engine Oil Ranges include:-
| Classic Sport | For ultimate engine protection with high operating viscosity for maximum bearing protection and reduced oil consumption. The incorporation of the latest technology synthetics ensures rapid oil circulation on start-up to prevent wear and to ensure maximum protection for all cars up to and including those under highly stressed competition conditions. Conforms to the latest API test requirements and is of SAE 2OW-50 viscosity. |
| Classic 2OW-50 | Formulated to the same standards as Classic Sport but utilising mineral
oil stocks with the latest additives for maximum protection under everyday
conditions. Conforms to the latest API requirements. |
| Classic Tranverse M | Gearbox in sump vehicles while able to be run satisfactorily on conventional engine oils will benefit from the use of oils specifically formulated for this type of design. After years of experience running BMC Minis, two lubricants have been developed which uniquely incorporate engine and transmission performance. The Classic 2OW-50 oils specially formulated for the Mini range consist of a part synthetic Sport and an all mineral version. Both provide API SF engine protection along with API GL4 gear protection. *Millers Classic Transverse M oils are also suitable for gearboxes requiring engine oils. |
| Kasterblend | Castor based lubricants are suitable for a number of Veteran and Vintage cars and engines running on methanol. Kasterblend is oxidation inhibited and complies to SAE 40 viscosity classification. |
| Pistoneeze Mono-Grade | Pistoneeze branded oils can be traced back to the 1920's when Millers imported special high performance Pennsylvanian stocks. Pistoneeze today still utilises high performance stocks and additives to produce a range of mono-grade oils in SAE 30, 40 & 50 viscosities. |
| Millerol Range | SAE 20, 30, 40 and 50 viscosity grades are available in the Millerol range of non-detergent mono-grade oils. Unlike the earliest oils which consisted of only mineral base oils, Millerol incorporates antioxidants and anti-wear additives to provide longer oil and engine life. |
| Millers EP GL4 range | Available in single and multi-grade form to cover the requirements of Classic
owners requiring performance level API GL4, MIL-L-2105. The additive EP
treatment level ensures its safe to use with nonferrous gearbox components
and overdrive friction materials. Available in SAE grades:- 80,90,140,80W-90,85W-90 and 85W-140. |
| Millers Hypoid GL5 range | Produced in mono and multi-grade viscosities with API GL5 MIL-L- 2105 B/C
performance, for hypoid rear axles. This range is available in SAE viscosity grades:- 80, 90, 140, 80 85W-90 and 85W-140. For axles fitted with Limited Slip Differentials special friction modifiers are incorporated with the performance additives. Two grades are available, a SAE 90 LS and a 8OW-140 LS. |
| Millers TRX | Millers TRX is a semi-synthetic gearbox and axle oil using special additives which while providing outstanding axle protection are also suitable for gearboxes and their nonferrous components. |
| Millers Greengear | For Veteran and Vintage vehicles which require non-additive treated transmission and axle oils, this range provides API GL1 performance and is available in SAE 80, 90 and 140 viscosities. |
The trend with 'modern' vehicles and the lubricants produced for them
is to make the oils much 'lighter' or 'thinner'. For example, the most commonly
specified engine oil grade today is SAE lOW-40 or even 1OW-30 multi-grades.
Veteran and Vintage vehicles were made before multi-grade oils had been
invented, in fact all vehicles made before the mid 50's used mono-grade
oils, typically SAE 30 for winter use and SAE 40 for use in the summer.
With no multi_grade technology available, the base stocks used were heavier
which suited the engine designs and clearances for which they were produced.
Multi-grade oils however, using conventional or part synthetic stocks to
produce SAE 2OW-50 viscosities provide ideal lubricants for 'Classic' vehicles.
This viscosity allows heavier more suitable base stocks to be used resulting
in less oil consumption, higher oil pressure and longer engine life.
