Glossop North End won immediate
promotion to Division One of the Football League in their first season, 1898-99.
Alas, after dropping the “North End” part of their name, relegation
followed in the subsequent season, and they spent the rest of their time in
Division Two until they failed to be re-elected in 1915.
Author
Garth Dykes has looked into the playing careers of all the men who played for
the club in the Football League and has written a detailed account of their time
at Glossop and elsewhere. Full
line-ups and scorers grids are included. The
book is well illustrated with player photographs and team groups.
This
edition joins similar works by Garth published under my Soccerdata imprint; the
others are Nelson, Durham, Ashington, Wigan Borough, New Brighton, and two
volumes on Oldham Athletic. .
